SFWA Nebula Finalists!

So, here’s my reaction post to this year’s Nebula finalists, which dropped yesterday. Going through them in the order they are posted.

Novel

  1. The Unbroken by C.L. Clark. I haven’t read this, although I’ve been told by multiple people that I should. Now I really should. It’s North African flavored military fantasy and I’m told it is very, very queer and right up my alley. I just haven’t got around to looking at it yet.
  2. A Master of Djinn by P. Djèli Clark. I also haven’t read this one, but I’m there for pretty much anything Clark does (okay, this is going to be confusing with two Clarks in there, I might have to resort to initials). He’s generally better at shorter fiction, but…
  3. Machinehood by S.B. Divya. I read this one but didn’t nominate it, it didn’t quite fit my aesthetic preferences, although I’m happy to read it again. It’s kind of cyberpunky?
  4. A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine. Another one I really, really need to read but haven’t got to. I adored A Memory Called Empire and am there for anything Martine wants to give me. She’s also cute when you tell her that ;). (I made her blush).
  5. Plague Birds by Jason Sanford. The only one of my nominees to make the list (Which I think reflects slightly off base reading more than anything else). If you like Gene Wolfe, read…
