So, for me personally, it's so far past a non-issue that it makes me angry because I KNOW it's just a tool to divide us.
I have shared multi-stall restrooms with cis men and walked past cis men *using a urinal* and felt perfectly safe. One of the conferences I go to marks two of the bathrooms on the conference floor as all gender, yes, multi-stall bathrooms. I always use them because the fact that some people aren't comfortable with it makes for, you got it, shorter lines ;).
But I realize I'm an outlier.
But here's another thing. How do I know the woman in the next stall IS transgender? Some trans women are fairly obvious because of unfortunate biological features that make it harder for them to pass. Some, you can't tell.
Unless you're peeking.
The only way you would know for sure that there's a trans woman with a dick in the bathroom is if you peeked.
So.
Yeah.
Final note, there have been instances of cis male security guards entering women's restrooms and removing women who looked trans. In the vast majority the woman was not trans. That's supposed to make me feel safer? I'm probably safe because my long hair counteracts my generally gender neutral presentation (I have hair issues). But I know many GNC women who are not safe.
Yeah, this is half an essay, but...
