I grew up in the UK and had "spazz" aimed at me as an autistic child. Yeah, it's a slur.

But I'm not surprised that it means something different in AAVE, and this entire question about things which are slurs in one place and not another is...tricky. The G word comes to mind.

That said, the selective outrage is absolutely racist.
