Somebody Asked the Wrong Person to Leave Their Restaurant

Sigh. Yet again.

This time it’s in Atlanta, and a location of The Capital Grille asked a woman to leave because she was wearing leggings.

Fine, leggings are not uncommonly against restaurant dress codes, but there are three factors here.

Of Course, She Was Black

Because of course she was. Another woman in similar attire entered after her and appears not to have been turned away.

The story, unfortunately, doesn’t state the ethnicity of the other woman. But does it really have to?

And other people responded to the victim’s tweet saying they were not denied service. The restaurant says no gym attire, but jogging suits and pants have been seen there.

It’s in a Mall Parking Lot

There’s something particularly snobbish about a restaurant in a mall parking lot turning away people wearing the kind of clothes people wear to the mall, ya know.

Yes, it’s a steakhouse, but they should be expecting things like that…and the rules need to be a lot clearer and, of course, evenly enforced.

She is…drumroll…the EX MAYOR

Yeah. Way to get some negative publicity. Turning away the ex mayor of Atlanta because she ain’t dressing to your standards is a great way to get roasted on Twitter.

Did they recognize her and not care? Did they just see a slovenly Black woman?

Or did somebody recognize her and see an excuse to get back at her for a policy they didn’t agree with?

We’ll probably never know.
