Speaking as a Virginian independent, McAuliffe ran a *terrible* campaign. He spent all of his time comparing Youngkin to Trump, such that all Youngkin really had to do was uncompare himself, which he did successfully.

Virginia tends to swing away from whoever holds the White House anyway, but I honestly think somebody like Caroll Foy, somebody who wasn't a massive insider and actually had new ideas might have been able to pull it off.

And I'm constantly amused that barely left of center is "too far left". Darkly amused, that is.

We need another political party. Speaking as an independent who doesn't lean Democrat...she votes Democrat because center right is still better than far right. Lean implies I might lean the other way...
