Stroad. That is the perfect term for these monstrosities.

We have one here and they are talking about removing the underpass we use to get to the subway station.

If they do, we will lit. have to go to the other station! I already have to cross this thing to get to Target, which involves:

1. Stand on the curb, toes ON the curb, while traffic whizzes by.

2. Watch the light intently.

3. Wait a few minutes.

4. Instantly when the light changes start walking at the fastest pace you can manage.

4. Pray.

There is no median and the light was apparently set by having an able-bodied six foot man walk at full speed.

If you arrive after the light has changed, wait five minutes for it to change again.

They claim the new design will be safer and more walkable, but none of us buy it. And of course, America has not heard of pedestrian bridges...
