Substitute Swears and the Manchester Endearment — Some Personal Thoughts on “Britspeak”

I have two passports in my desk, U.K. and U.S. I spent the first part of my life in the U.K., primarily in a small town called Long Eaton, which is not far from Nottingham. (I often tell Americans I’m from Nottingham because some of them can find it on a map and most have heard of it, although the “like Robin Hood” cracks get old).
