The Backlash is Terrible…But We Can Still Fight For Our Trans Kids

Trans kids are being turned into political pawns not just in the U.S. but elsewhere.

At best the attitude is that a 17 and 364 year old doesn’t know their gender but an 18 year old somehow does. (In fact, kids know their gender somewhere between three and five, but trans people with lower levels of gender dysphoria may not recognize it until adulthood).

At worst it’s a wedge issue to detransition and closet all trans people.

So, why do I have hope?

Here’s what states are considering banning:
Alabama:

• All instruction on gender identity and sexuality in public schools
• College students competing on teams that don’t match their birth genitalia (including trans men)

Alaska

• Using a child’s pronouns without written parental permission
• Trans girls competing as girls, all levels

Arizona

• Gender affirming medical care for minors
• School officials not outing trans and gay kids…
