The current artificial womb cannot handle the entirety of gestation. What it CAN do is very important...basically you can put preemies in it and it's like putting them back in the womb to cook a little longer. But it only works (in sheep, where most of the testing has been done) for fetuses that are close to the viability line. I hope it comes through because it will save a lot of preemies from death and disability, but it's a long way from a true artificial womb. Wombs are hard.
