I stopped reading DC comics a few years back…and I did so before the creation of “Naomi.” The character was created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell.

And I know nothing about her. I’m intentionally keeping it that way so I can watch the show as if I were a comics newbie.

I just saw the pilot, and here are my initial thoughts.

Kaci Walfall is Brilliant

She’s seventeen years old and she is remarkable. Walfall holds attention amongst her equally talented cast mates and carries the show with very little assistance. She leads in a way that oddly reminds me of David Tennant.

Everyone on this show is good, but Walfall is the kind of talent you don’t see every day. How much range she has is, of course, an open question. But I hope she has a long and illustrious career.

With that natural hair, please.

The rest of this article contains spoilers for episode one, so come back after you’ve watched it. Unless, of course, you don’t care about spoilers.
