The primary cause of the division is not people expressing their truth.
It is people saying their Truth is the One Truth and forcing it on others.
I'm not going to "listen" to people who tell me, for example:
"Your friend should stop enabling their child's use of they pronouns and make her grow her hair."
"A woman should be glad to die with her unborn child rather than have an abortion."
"All gay people are inherently pedophiles."
But I'll happily listen to how somebody's faith impacts their work...just as I'd listen to how their disability does, or their sexual orientation, or the economic circumstances of their upbringing.
Religion is one of those things that should be personal, never inflicted on others.
I'm not offended by the existence of religious people.
I'm threatened by the ones who are trying to gain power over me so they can force me to pretend to be straight and go to church.
And that's the root cause of the division. It's not religion, it's not even "witnessing" (which is simply showing how happy you are in your faith and then letting others know why), it's proselytization and forced conversion.
