The reason Starship Troopers is so "underrated" is because they marketed it as an adaptation, and then when fans of the original showed up...

...they found themselves watching a parody/satire.

I have an interesting relationship with the book, but as a Heinlein fan I found the movie outright disrespectful of the source material.

Had I been told it was a parody going in, I would have liked it.

Honesty in marketing is important, people.
