The thing is that there’s not actually that much selection pressure on this virus, because while it has severe outcomes in a subset, it IS mild (with a long incubation period) in the general population.

It would be good news if this is a pandemic-ending variant that causes so little serious disease we can move on, but we can’t assume that yet.
