There are only a handful of trans women competing at the high levels. They never win.

And when trans women win they are told it's 100% and only because they are trans and now the rules have to be changed to make sure it never happens again.

I don't know how we make this fair on everyone, it's a nuanced situation that is balancing multiple people's rights (much like dueling accessibility issues in disability rights).

But a lot of the people advocating against trans inclusion are doing so in a very transphobic way. At the same time, again, I agree pure self identification goes too far in certain sports.
