Xylitol is a sugar alcohol and I can't leave without saying this:

Xylitol is highly toxic to dogs. As in it can kill them. If you use it, be extremely careful to make sure it is always out of reach of your pets and don't give dogs low sugar peanut butter, which often contains xylitol.
