Goliath, by the way, was 6 feet 9 inches tall. I know somebody who is exactly that height and know how intimidating a man that big can be. (There's a version in which he's 9 feet 9 inches, but that would make him taller than the tallest man ever recorded, who had many, many health problems and a giant that big would never be able to be a physical direct warrior, so 6'9 seems much more likely to be the right height).
